Joining Sesshin in the Cloud Zendo
If you are joining us from home, try to create the space of retreat in the midst of your life. Emphasize zazen, silence, stillness, and mindfulness as much as you can given your responsibilities and other commitments. With consideration to anyone you live with, you might:
- Join the sesshin schedule as often as you can
- Minimize talking/social interactions (if not entirely, then for certain times of the day)
- Go offline except for joining the retreat on Zoom
- Refrain from consuming news media
- Refrain from entertainment media (TV, YouTube, etc.)
- Refrain from reading/listening for pleasure (at the Dirt Zendo sesshin we will go without reading entirely; you might try this or limit yourself to Dharma texts)
- Go without buying anything (doing your shopping before the retreat)
- Recite the meal verse before meals or add other chants to your day
