Opportunities for Children and Parents

Bright Way Zen has started several non-sectarian programs for children and parents, so get the word out! Check the Zen center calendar for upcoming Children and Family events – these events are listed in purple. Please watch the newsletter and website for more information in coming weeks.

There is no charge for any of the programs, but Bright Way Zen is supported by donation. All are welcome regardless of religious affiliation (or lack thereof). Buddhism is a non-theistic tradition that is completely compatible with other faiths (at least from Buddhism’s perspective).

Monthly Sunday Children’s Program ~ 10:20-11am
Bright Way’s first children’s program of the school year will be Sept. 23rd. The children’s program will meet from 10:20 AM until 11:00 AM on Sunday mornings and then the children will join the rest of the group for snacks at 11 AM. The program includes age-appropriate meditation, mindfulness, singing, dancing, storytelling and walks in nature. We are also planning some family events for parents to meet and support each other.

Monthly Meet & Greet for Parents ~ First Tuesdays, 6:30pm
We will also a have monthly meet and greet for parents at 6:30 PM before the first Tuesday night sitting of the month. The first one of these is Oct. 2nd.

Wednesday Morning Meditation for Parents and Young Children ~ 10:30-11:30am
Also in September we will be adding a Wednesday morning meditation group for parents and young children at 10:30 AM. The first of these is Sept. 12th.

We invite all interested parties to participate in the development of our programs for children, parents, and families. We want to create the programs by responding to the specific needs and wishes of Bright Way members. Contact Marcia Kahn  503-704-4887 with any questions and comments.
