A Zen retreat can be a life-changing experience. At a retreat we pay mindful attention throughout the day to our meditation, our breath, chanting, silent work, and a silent meal. We slow down, but in the midst of discipline, our minds and bodies have a chance to catch up with each other.
Bright Way Zen usually holds one-day retreats in January, April, and October. Please visit the Event Calendar for more information on them.Due to the coronavirus, all of Bright Way Zen’s practice is online for the time being. This One-Day Retreat is designed for you to do at home, joining with others on Zoom video for the communal parts of the schedule. Click this button for how to connect with us via Zoom.
- Feel free to join us for any part of the schedule.
- To help you stay committed to the retreat container, register for the retreat (form below) and use the text field to describe how you will participate.

It is also highly recommended you take yourself “offline” for the duration – no computer use, no social or mass media, and put your phone on airplane mode or turn it off.

Minimum suggested contribution for a one-day retreat online is $15, but we will not turn anyone away for lack of funds, so please pay what you can (according to our Suggestion Contribution policy). If you only attend part of the day, donate as you feel is appropriate. On the other hand, we’re still paying rent during the coronavirus lockdown, so a donation of $25 (our usual suggested contribution for One-Day retreats at the Zendo) would be much appreciated!
Submit registration below. If you are able to stop by on the day-of, however, please feel welcome to join us without prior notice.
