Just Sitting - ONLINE
Awakening to Whiteness Series - ONLINE

A Zen retreat can be a life-changing experience. At a retreat we pay mindful attention throughout the day to our meditation, our breath, chanting, silent work, and a silent meal. We slow down, but in the midst of discipline, our minds and bodies have a chance to catch up with each other.

Bright Way Zen holds one-day retreats several times a year. Please visit the Event Calendar for more information on them.

♦ Feel free to join us for any part of the schedule.

♦ Registration is required for any in-person participation (so we don’t have keep checking COVID vaccination status of people who arrive, scroll down to the form at the bottom of this page). CHECK OUR COVID UPDATES PAGE before registering for in-person attendance, or before showing up at the Zendo (proof of vaccination and mask is required).

♦ If you are participating online, registering is optional, but doing so may help you stay committed to the retreat container; you may want to use the text field in the registration form to describe how you will participate.

Join Us In Person

In-person participation is limited at this time because of COVID safety, to those who provide proof of full vaccination and remain masked throughout our events. Before attending in person, please see our COVID updates page for more instructions

Registration is necessary for in-person participation, even if it is only part-time (so we don’t have keep checking COVID vaccination status of people who arrive).

Please maintain silence from the time you arrive for the retreat until the closing circle at 3:30pm, with the exception of brief, quiet exchanges as necessary to communicate what’s going on.

Part-time participation is acceptable, just come and go as quietly as possible.

♦ If you will be joining us for lunch, bring your own food (vegetarian only please).

♦ Be prepared for a work assignment if you are staying for the work period. We have different kinds of tasks to accommodate different abilities.

It is also highly recommended you take yourself “offline” for the duration – no computer use (except for the retreat Zoom), no social or mass media, and put your phone on airplane mode or turn it off.
